What Apps are we Using?
Here is a list of the apps we have on our 5 classroom iPads as well as a brief explanation of how we are/will be using these in our classroom.
ShowMe: This is a presentation app where students can create presentations about any subject area. It can also be used as assessment where students explain their thinking.
Skitch & Perfect Captions: These apps can be used together to label and caption pictures. Students can take pictures of their work or screencap images from textbooks or internet articles. They can then label or explain the pictures using academic vocabulary.
Funny Movie Maker: This allows students to read their writing pieces while recording only their mouths in place of the mouth on a picture of their choice. (I will say, some of the pictures that come automatically on this app weren't appropriate for my students. I deleted those pictures & downloaded a couple of appropriate pictures before I put the iPads & app in the hands of my students. Anyone who downloads this app at home should do that before giving the app to a student to be used.)
iMovie: This app can be used for students to create book trailers for books they have finished. Students can also create movies to teach concepts or ideas from class.
Photo/Video Apps: Animoto, iPhoto
Math fluency practice: Marble Multiplication, Math Fight, Zeus vs. Monster, Math vs. Undead
Math apps: Protractor, Motion Math: Fractions, Scootpad, TenMarks
Reading apps: Lexia Core 5
Science apps:
Apple apps: Keynote, Numbers, Pages
Other apps: Dictionary, Dropbox
iPad Free Time Apps: Temple Run, Temple Run 2, Garage Band, Scribblenauts
